This has been a crazy year for trading, hasn't it?
All of the talking heads keep going on about interest rates, recession, and bear markets.
Retirement accounts are down. Asset managers are struggling.
There's a school of thought out there that says you should be buying when the market is down and lowering your average cost.
That might work over a long time horizon, but the problem is that we don't know how much further the stock market could fall. Who's to say that we're anywhere near the bottom?
That's why I like to keep my risk small and short.
This year, I've been crushing the traditional approach to account management.
In fact, in June alone, the S&P 500 lost over 8%.
In that same month, I made $8,542.76.
And this wasn't on some huge account that would take you forever to grow to be able to duplicate my results.
This was on a fresh $26,000 account.
Most of you reading this already have accounts that size or larger.
But realistically, the account size doesn't matter.
The fact is that I grew that account over 30% in a single month, and that can be done with almost any account size.
As I mentioned above, the key to my success this year (and the reason that I'm outperforming 99% of traders and asset managers in this tough environment) is because I keep my trades small and short.
They're small because I only risk 1-2% of my account on any given trade. That means each time I take a position, I'm only risking a very small part of my capital.
If the trade works out, great! I keep growing the account larger and larger. And if the trade doesn't work, I only lose a small fraction of my account.
The other aspect of my approach is that I keep my trades short.
I'm not taking long-term buy-and-hold positions in this market. In fact, I'm not even swing trading a whole lot right now (even though I love it!)
Because of the volatile environment that we're in, I'm taking fast day trades where I can get in, get my profit, and get out.
The market is moving a lot this year, which makes it dangerous to hold trades overnight or for extended periods of time.
But that volatility gives traders like us a perfect opportunity to day trade!
I've been following this simple 5-step process to wild success:
- Step 1: Find a stock with significant morning momentum using a 30 min chart
- Step 2: Clarify the trade candidate by identifying zones of supply and demand
